Mixed media is often seen in the form of a collage(in which pieces of paper, photographs, fabric and other ephemera are arranges and stuck down onto a supporting surface) or Assemblage (A 3D mixed media collage with various materials or Decoupage(a craft that involves gluing fabric/paper cutouts onto objects then sealed to look like a painting).
